Greyhound buses have joined with Hovertravel and Southern Vectis to offer a revolutionary through ticket between London Victoria and anywhere on the Isle of Wight.

Buy any Greyhound ticket between London and the Isle of Wight and included in the price is a single Hovertravel crossing between Southsea and Ryde, plus a Southern Vectis bus ticket to or from Ryde and anywhere on their Isle of Wight network.

The total journey time between Ryde and London is under 3 hours.

Ticket prices start from an amazing £14 each way plus a 50p booking fee.

If you book early enough and off peak you can get £5 each way deals. Keep an eye on their website for these as they get snapped up really quickly. I am informed that around the end of January the next dates will be released for the £5 deals for travel April onwards.

The Isle of Wight does not always get the best network coverage for mobile phone use. Check this website for the area you are visiting to see the level of coverage you can expect.

Please also note that the service areas are based on computer prediction. Signal strength may be impacted by environmental elements and building materials.



All products using radio technology, including Television and car radios, can be affected by local physical conditions, which may interfere with radio signals, especially here on the Island where we are surrounded by water and constantly changing weather fronts.

As with other mobile phone services, coverage can be affected in tunnels, dips, cuttings and wooded areas.

For those early planners amongst you who are already getting organised for next year;

whether you want to join in the excitement of the London Olympics or escape to island instead, the Olympics event is taking place from 27th July through to 12th August.

For this reason, Cowes Week here on the Isle of Wight has shifted to week commencing 10th to 18th August, so remember this when you decide to pay us a visit!

There has been a lot of concern about the date of the 2012 Isle of Wight music festival as it would clash with the Queen's Jubilee and the school holidays next year. The May half term falls into the first week of June which would have been a logistical nightmare for the islands accommodation suppliers and transport systems.

So the decision has been made to move the dates to 22nd, 23rd and 24th June. Hurrah!

Remember to book early to avoid missing out.

Isle of Wight Festival Dates

Wight Locations has a fair percentage of pet friendly self catering properties here on the island and so guests often ask us which beaches they are permitted to walk their dogs on and when.



Between 1st October 30th April each year, dogs are permitted on the Island beaches. During the summer period, dogs (with the exception of guide dogs) are banned from a number of Island beaches that are owned by the Isle of Wight Council. But there are still plenty of beaches that will allow your beloved pet! Check out the link below.
