The Isle of Wight Literary festival will be returning to Cowes this coming October for its fourth year. From Thursday 16th to the 20th October the Literary Festival will play host to a fantastic line-up of fiction and non fiction writers, including novelists, biographers, historians, explorers, gardeners and poets and also some familiar faces from TV & Film.

You may have noticed last summer that a rather large Iguanodon was snapped roaming around Yaverland beach, all part of the very successful Dinosaur Island app, taking islanders and visitors alike on a Dinosaur hunt.

Situation a stone’s throw from Sandown seafront, Dinosaur Isle is Britain's first purpose built dinosaur attraction. Built in 2001 with help from the Millennium grant commission, this modern building has been designed to be reminiscent of a flying Pterosaur.

Once inside you will see dinosaur skeletons as they are found by the fossil hunters and can watch the experts preparing the latest exciting finds from the Islands beaches.

Brading Roman Villa

Brading Roman Villa can be found at the very end of the quiet village of Brading, nestled underneath the Downs. It can count itself as one of the finest Roman settlement sites in the UK. The award winning visitor site and museum has received lottery funding and offers a unique insight into Roman life in Britain. An extensive collection of Roman archaeology is exhibited there as well as some of the best preserved mosaic floors in Northern Europe.

The High street in Seaview has just been brightened with the opening of a brand new Coffee shop café right next door to our offices (very handy). The Coffee served is locally produced ‘Island Roasted’ artisan coffee.

The owners have created a wonderful ‘home from home’ space for dining, grabbing a snack or just enjoying a coffee and watching the world go by whilst taking advantage of the free Wifi.

The Isle of Wight Garlic Festival takes place each year in the stunning countryside of Newchurch, and is the largest summer show on the Island. The festival is a family friendly 2 day event with something to entertain all ages.

For the food lovers, there are huge garlic and food marquees, selling all sorts of Garlic related treats, with cooking demonstrations from top Island chefs in the all new theatre kitchen.

Following on from a very successful inaugural event last year, Jack up the 80’s returns to the Isle of Wight on August 9th & 10th at the Garlic Festival site in Newchurch.

This year’s line-up includes Doctor and the Medics, Buck Fizz, Bad Manners, The Blow Monkeys, Limahl and many more.

The festival is a family friendly event with acts appearing throughout the day and finishing in the early evening.

Once a year, on a summer day during a spring tide, a whisper will travel around the villages of Bembridge, St Helens and Seaview, that the Fort Walk is on!

Residents and Holiday makers start to congregate on Bembridge beach as the Tide recedes to the lowest point of the year making it possible to walk from Bembridge beach out to the St Helens Fort situated half a kilometre out into the Solent.
