No matter what the weather, there is always something fun to do on the Island.
You can see the how carriages and wagons are restored to their former glory in the workshop. And the children can 'let off steam' in the adventure playground. Or jump off in Ashey and take a walk through the countryside.
The Isle of Wight Steam Railway fires up their engines once again for February half term. Travel back in time, relax and be transported by steam or diesel through the Island countryside between Havestreet, Ashey and Smallbrook.

Get out into nature on Saturday 25th February for the 20th annual Isle of Wight Hedgelaying competition.
Taking place from 10am until 3pm at New Barn Farm, Calbourne, contestants compete to create the best laid hedge using only hand tools.
"Laying hedges is one of the techniques in managing hedgerows. Left unmanaged a hedgerow will continue to grow upwards and outwards and will eventually become a line of trees.
Where farmers keep cattle or sheep a good hedge is essential, for although barbed wire fences can easily be erected they do not provide shelter like a hedge and they are a haven for wildlife."
Get your wellies on and join in the fun!
Entry is FREE for competitors and spectators

Ladies! 2012 is a leap year so you know what that means...
A tradition was introduced many centuries ago to allow women to propose to men during a leap year. This privilege of proposing was restricted to leap day in some areas.
Leap day was sometimes known as Bachelors Day. A man was expected to pay a penalty, such as a gown or money, if he refused a marriage offer from a woman.
So why not book a romantic long weekend getaway to the Isle of Wight, stay in one of Wight Locations' lovely self catering holiday properties, and pop the question to your man!
