About the Island

The Isle of Wight is a stunning and relaxing holiday and short break destination, close to the south coast with easy access from London and boasting unspoilt scenery with a wealth of events, festivals and just plain and simple 'things to do'.

For the energetic, there are plenty of sports facilities, including sailing, windsurfing, kite surfing and paragliding. And for those who prefer to simply unwind and explore, there's so much to discover as the Island is home to some of the most diverse countryside in the UK.

What better way to unwind than to get out into the fresh air and explore? Whether you prefer a leisurely stroll or something more energetic, you can discover historic farms, pretty lanes, thatched villages, coastal trails and woodlands. It's easy to find your way around, with over 500 miles of carefully maintained footpaths and signposts to follow. Walking, cycling and bird watching are popular all year round. The island is also a place of simple but rewarding pleasures. What better way to relax and draw breath than to head off rock pooling, fishing for crabs, jumping off breakwaters and building sandcastles.

With the Island only 23 miles by 13 nothing is far away and we are a short but calming boat crossing from Portsmouth, Southampton or Lymington in the New Forest or by Hovercraft from Southsea of by High Speed Cat from Portsmouth Harbour railway station or from Southampton.
