Booking Information

Please note that holidays will now be managed by our friends at Classic Cottages and are subject to Classic Cottages Booking Conditions.

Get in touch with the Wight Locations team on 01983 617322 if you have any questions and please refer to Classic Cottages Booking Conditions for the nitty gritty and small print.

Arrivals & Departures
Check your arrival details, but it’s usually a 3.30pm arrival time and departure by 10am on your final day but please check the individual property details. Changeover days tend to be a Friday or Saturday but check the property description and get in touch to ask about booking different dates.

Short breaks
Sometimes all you need is a few days to get away and we’ve many a soul-reviving retreat for you to enjoy at reduced rates as follows:

3 nights - 70% of the weekly price
4 nights - 75% of the weekly price
5 nights - 80% of the weekly price
6 nights - 90% of the weekly price

Please check individual properties for short break availability and get in touch if you have any questions.

Prices and payments
We do our best to quote a price that is the final price, so there are no hidden surprises when you come to pay. You will see the booking fee listed alongside the rent, followed by the total price for booking those dates. The best bit is that bed linen and towels are included at every property, pretty much every single cottage includes electricity and central heating and there are no extra charges for cots or high chairs where they are listed in the property description.

Pets
If you pick the right property, it’ll be as much a holiday for your pooch as it is for you, so to keep everyone happy do check the tourist boards for dog friendly locales, make sure flea treatments are up-to-date , don’t leave pets unattended and don’t assume they cant escape. Do keep non-humans off the furniture and out of the bedrooms and keep gardens green and clean by picking up droppings. Your pet’s holiday only costs £30 and you can find out the finer detail on the Classic Cottages Holidays with Pets page.
Now that’s done, who wants to go for walkies?

Period and older properties
Old properties are filled with character and charm, but we make sure we mention any quirks such as uneven floors, step stairs or low beams in the description.
However, there’s no getting away from the weather, and stone cottages like to soak it up. This is perfectly natural and modern damp courses are not a solution, so be prepared to open windows to prevent condensation build up and perhaps make use of the occasional dehumidifier. It’s a different way of life you may not be used to, but if you’ve anyone in your party who may be susceptible to damp, it’s better to choose a more modern property.

Visit England Quality Ratings
Most of our properties have been inspected by Visit England and have received an official star rating which is clearly shown. In simple terms, the more stars the higher the overall level of quality. A Gold Award is given in recognition of exceptional quality within that star rating band.
Where a property has no rating, this does not mean it has failed to achieve any stars; it is purely that this property has either not yet been rated or chosen not to partake in this scheme. All such properties have been inspected by Wight Locations to assess their suitability for holiday letting.

Party details
There’s a maximum number of occupants per property for a reason, so make sure everyone who is staying is listed on the booking. We also like to protect our owners’ properties so occasionally turn away large single sec group bookings or groups of under 18s. And cots are only for babies younger than 24 months at the start of the holiday.

Parking
Parking details are described in the property description, with a medium-sized car akin to a VW Golf. If your car is a bit big, or not fit for farm lanes, give the office a call to check specifics. Some of our properties really are rural…

Electricity & Heating
Unless otherwise stated, electricity and heating are normally included in the rental cost. Short breaks during the winter months may incur a 'fuel surcharge' dependent on the property and duration of let.

Smoking
Not many properties allow indoor smoking nowadays and in order to preserve that clean fresh wow for the next guests, you need to take a wander away from the cottage to have a smoke – a great excuse to discover what’s down that little lane though…

Linen and towels
You don’t need to stuff your suitcases with bulky towels or bed linen, it’s all provided at every single cottage and a fresh set will be supplied each week when you stay for longer (you will need to bring the baby’s bedding, mind you). Please do leave room for your own beach towels in your luggage though, as ours shouldn’t leave the property.

Babies
Have more space in the car for a comfier journey down – properties with the pram symbol provide a selection of paraphernalia such as cots for children up to 24months, high chairs, a baby bath, a bath mat, a changing mat and where applicable, stair-gates as standard.

Reception and Wifi
If you’d rather not switch off from the outside world, reception and internet are going to be needed. But please bear in mind, signal strength and connectivity can be patchy at best. Television packages also vary from cottage to cottage so check individual property descriptions, but get in touch for specific requirements.

More details can be found on the Classic Cottages Technology page.

Ferry Bookings
Ferry crossings are not included in the rental price, however we can arrange competitively priced crossings on your behalf. Where ferries are booked through Wight Locations a non refundable booking fee of £17.50 is charged.
To book your ferry either call the office or complete our booking form.
Please remember that if you are visiting the Island in peak season or when a festival is due to take place that you will need to book your ferry well in advance as these book very quickly.

Access for all
Each of our properties is very individual, so if you have issues with mobility, get in touch to confirm Access For All arrangements. Our property owners are always happy to help with disability requirements as far as possible.

What do I do if something is wrong?
We’re always on hand with an emergency number if you need us. We’ll supply contact details for the owner or housekeeper as a first port of call (your booking contract is with the owner, after all) but we will always do our utmost to make sure everything is to your satisfaction.
