The county town of Newport can be found in the centre of the Island, based around the River Medina which almost splits the Island down the middle. There are some lovely rural villages, walks and cycle paths in this region, including through the beauriful woodlands of Firestone Copse and Parkhurst Forest. Home to the historic Carisbrooke Castle, a popular day out for all ages, this region makes a great base from which to explore everything the Island has to offer.
